You DO know that in VC you can "raise" in your seat, yes? you press "shift-Enter" as many times at you want to lower the dashboard but not the horizon, as if you raised in your seat. I think you go back to default by pressing space, but you can see that in FS options, keypresses or what it´s called, where you map keystrokes.

I new you could do it for cockpit mode, but I didn't realize you could do that with VC.  Damn...call me idiot.  I thought you was stuck holding the space and moving the mouse around for views.  Might make a little bit of difference....

Good tip Ole - raising the seat can be very useful when landing large aircraft, but one must aways remember to reset it just before landing or you can touch down at a disasterous pitch.

As I recall the keys to do this in FSX are very different from FS2004...

LDZA to LOWW (September 27)  Zagreb, Croatia  to Vienna, Austria

Today's flight plan takes us North up to the Capital city of Vienna.  It is here where I will solo with the Vienna Boys choir and practice my singing.  Hope things go well.

German Wings in background, and making downwind for a turn back to Vienna's airport.

Looking pretty good.  Another new airline...Lauda Airlines.  Taxiing to gate.

Landing Score:122.65

Landing included the following problems:

  • Too hard - may have damaged your landing gear.

Flight Score:145.40  (Check out that number.... )

A smooth flight!

LOWW to LOWI (September 29)  Vienna, Austria to Innsbruck, Austria.

Well I blew them all away with my tenor voice.  Standing O for the kid.  Off to check out the ski resorts in Innsbruck.  I was so looking forward to this flight and I made the biggest blunder, well it's not the first.  I saw that both runways had green ILS on the map, so I didn't bother to make a non-ILS approach.  Turns out I made a big mistake.  Flight was absolutely awesome...took off at dusk.  Flew north of the mountains until about 70 miles out, then ducked into a nice valley between the mountains to bring it home.  Purposely flew VFR so I could land on 26, but could not get the control tower to allow me that runway so I had to settle for 8, and that when my plan went to hell.  Got a big fat zero for landing...I was pissed but the pictures prolly won't do justice for the city all lit up at night.

Makings of a great night of flying...flying over a lake....closing in our turn through the valley.

Cool flight through the mountains, closing in on Innsbruck, and finally the city all lit up....Awesome!

Had to fly over the intended runway and try to make a sharp turn back and land....man was that tough...Check out those mountains...

Landing Score:0.00  (Damn, just a disaster...)

Landing included the following problems:

  • No glideslope information was available on visual approach.
  • No runway alignment information was available on visual approach.
  • Too fast - you had to force the plane to stay down.
  • No glideslope - could not compare flare to glideslope.
  • Without spoilers armed - arm them before landing.
  • Touch down not aligned with the runway - let's point down the runway.
  • Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.

Flight Score:104.14  (Thank goodness I at least got some points for my troubles)

Flight included the following problems:

  • Steep banking - save your aerobatic flying for some other time.
  • Exceeding flap speeds - your flaps may be damaged: have them checked.
  • Loss of altitude during takeoff - climb smoothly.
  • Rapid descent - dangerous and uncomfortable.
  • Nose held too high - spilt drinks and worried expressions.
  • Poorly trimmed aircraft - trimmers are there to help: use them.

LOWI to LSZB (October 1st)  Innsbruck, Austria to Bern, Switzerland

What a beautiful city....maybe some day I visit it in real life.  Off to Switzerland and practice my yodeling.

The backdrop on all these pictures is just incredible.  The high steep mountains, water, snow capped....just awesome!

Get this baby up to altitude and get over these mountains...

Landing Score:115.09  (Humm, I swear I'm not pounding the pavement...sheez)

Landing included the following problems:

  • Too hard - may have damaged your landing gear.

Flight Score:133.57

Flight included the following problems:

  • Nose held too low - we're not in combat.

LSZB to LSZH (October 1st)  Bern, Switzerland to Zurich, Switzerland

Well one of the plans of this whole WWT is to make money.  I'm going to make so much money from endorsements, that I decided to open a Swiss bank account today.  Was I greeted to royalty.  The Swiss was so impressed with my story, that they are funding my next 2 month leg as a corporate sponsor.  Even when the entire world's financial crisis is going on!  Really short flight, so why not fire up the trusy Baron and see if we can't nail a good score.

All open waiting for tourists.  What a backdrop!

Little off to the right, but looking really good on approach...

Taxi to gate, where they park me next to some jumbo's.

Landing Score:104.75

Landing included the following problems:

  • Too hard - may have damaged your landing gear.
  • Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.

Flight Score:112.45  (ahh come on...I want bigger numbers!)

A smooth flight!

LSZH to EDDM (October 4th)  Zurich, Switzerland to Munich, Germany

Time to head off to Germany and drink some beer. Period.  Sad to say, I'll be drinking to the 139 on board as I stalled my 737 trying to be cute, and paid for it.  Thank goodness it's flight simulator and not the real thing.

Dawn flight...got my coffee in hand...what more could go wrong?

Cool shot of Swiss Air Airbus landing...take off from passenger window...and turning into the rising sun...cool!

So much for a good flight...

Landing Score: 0.00    Flight Score: 0.00   (Damn, and it was such a beautiful morning...)

EDDM to EDDS (October 4th)  Munich, Germany to Stuttgart, Germany

Too much beer....must take rest, but I must plow on.  FAA requires 8 hours prior to alcohol intake.  Must leave now, why are my eyes bloodshot?  Where's my coffee?  Damn my head aches.  Flight attendants to captain's deck ASAP!

Bunch of WOAI traffic - Luada, Iberia, Air France, and even Etitiad.  Had an incident with a fuel truck.  Could remember if gas cap was put on correctly.  Waiting for clearance.

Flying over city, and making left turn to land.  Too many red lights is that a good thing?  Better pull up soon, or else Mr. Smith will have a field day.

Air Berlin taxiing to takeoff.  Why do the park so many planes away from Jetways in Europe?

Landing Score:105.09

Landing included the following problems:

  • Poor glideslope on ILS approach - you can do better.
  • Too hard - may have damaged your landing gear.
  • Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.

Flight Score:122.91

Flight included the following problems:

  • Exceeding flap speeds - your flaps may be damaged: have them checked.
  • Late rotation - when Vr is reached - take off.
  • Poor attention to taxi speed - dangerous to yourself and others.

Definite room for improvement...

EDDS to ELLX (October 4th)  Stuttgart, Germany to Luxembourg, Luxembourg

Drank to much beer again.  Entered myself in a Beerfest contest.  Was drunk under the table by a little ol lady from Stuttgart.  How embarrasing.  Short flight over to Luxembourg.

Quite an assortment of WOAI traffic again.  Holding on runway hold line, and a GermanWings Airliner coming in...

Departing Stuttgart, banking left and heading west for Luxembourg, and taxi up to what appears to be a squadron of CargoLux 747's.  I hear there's top secret stuff in hangars.

Landing Score:124.10  (Ahh...come on Mr. Smith.  A splendid landing dude!)

A splendid landing!

Flight Score:134.92

Flight included the following problems:

  • Exceeding flap speeds - your flaps may be damaged: have them checked.
  • Narrowly missed obstacles - plan your safety altitudes.

ELLX to EDDF (October 4th)  Luxembourg, Luxembourg to Frankfort, Germany

I wanted in on the cargo action.  I cannot tell you all what I was transporting, but I elected to throw off all passengers in lieu of profitable cargo.  That's all I can say.  Pact deal.

Top secret cargo being added.  Load factor may be jeopardized.  Engines are screaming as I yank on the yoke.  Cool looking river if you can make it out.

Final approach lining up nicely, a little of downtown Frankfort in background, and interesting Luftansa Tecknik center buildings.

Landing Score:105.25

Landing included the following problems:

  • Not near the centre line - you can do better.

Definite room for improvement...

Flight Score:132.99

Flight included the following problems:

  • Airspeed too low - you are risking stalls.
  • Poorly trimmed aircraft - trimmers are there to help: use them.

Definite room for improvement...
