GBYD to GGOV (October 31th, 2008)  Banjul, Gambia to Bissau, Guinea Bissau

Another short 100 nm flight.  Trying to build on a rather pathetic last flight.  Let's see how yours truly followed it up?

Good takeoff

interesting split in the river, and we go from desert, to green folage, to desert again.

Oh, crap...pull up maverick....crap....there goes a good score?

Landing Score:45.89

Landing included the following problems:

  • Poor glideslope on ILS approach - you can do better.
  • Not near the centre line - you can do better.
  • Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.

Flight Score:89.93

Flight included the following problems:

  • Exceeding flap speeds - your flaps may be damaged: have them checked.

GGOV to GUCY (October 31th, 2008)  Bissau, Guinea Bissau to Conakry, Guinea

Another flight that has scenery and landing problems, plus a crappy pilot lately.

Nice sunny day.  Flying south along the western African coast.  Pretty blue water.

As you can tell, I'm landing at an elevated airport do to my scenery...

Way off the marks, so how bad is it gonna be?  I'm bracing myself for a zero....Give it to me easy Smitty!

Landing Score:37.20

Landing included the following problems:

  • Poor glideslope on ILS approach - you can do better.
  • Glideslope lost before you touched down - not your best effort.
  • Not near the centre line - you can do better.
  • Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.

Definite room for improvement...

Flight Score:139.29  (Thank goodness I usually get good flight scores)

Flight included the following problems:

  • Narrowly missed obstacles - plan your safety altitudes.

GUCY to GFLL (October 31th, 2008)  Conakry, Guinea to Freetown, Sierre Leone

Gotta make another non-ILS landing.  You know what that means with me?  Fired up the good old trusty baron for a short 63nm flight.

Nice sunny day....ever seen an elevated lake?  Sheez.  This is crazy scenery, but what are you going to do about it?

More water and land shots.

Getting ready to land.  Making a right turn on to final, and way off the marks again and long.

Landing Score:0.00

Distance from runway numbers (visual approach): 802 feet

Landing included the following problems:

  • Poor glideslope on visual approach - you can do better.

Flight Score:104.35

Flight included the following problems:

  • Exceeding flap speeds - your flaps may be damaged: have them checked.

Definite room for improvement...

GFLL to GLRB (November 1st, 2008)  Freetown, Sierre Leone to Monrovia, Liberia

Yet another screwed up airport.  And I'm really getting tired of this.  I make a great landing and nothing to show for it.

Talk about your remote airport.  Does anybody have frequent flyer miles?  Gear coming down...check!

Another elevated screwed up ILS runway.  Man I'm dead on the money...little right but check out the tire smoke!

Landing Score:0.00

Landing included the following problems:

  • No glideslope information was available on visual approach.
  • No runway alignment information was available on visual approach.
  • No glideslope - could not compare flare to glideslope.
  • Throttle(s) forward - should be idle.
  • Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.

Flight Score:138.18  (Sheez)

A smooth flight!

GLRB to DIAP (November 1st, 2008)  Monrovia, Liberia to Abidjan, Ivory coast

Following the middle southern part of Africa now.  Cutting across some land for a bit, then back to the water.

Start of flight looked good for weather, but then looking out the right side...looks like bad weather approaching.

Can't see squat, could never get it set up correctly, but we're not about fixing it before landing.

Landing Score:32.00

Landing included the following problems:

  • Poor glideslope on ILS approach - you can do better.
  • Too hard - may have damaged your landing gear.
  • Glideslope lost before you touched down - not your best effort.
  • Not near the centre line - you can do better.
  • Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.

Flight Score:132.89

Flight included the following problems:

DGAA to DXXX (November 2nd, 2008)  Accra, Ghana to Lome, Togo

Really short flight of 91nm.  Really liking this little Mooney, so I'm giving it another try for a good score.  We'll see.

All loaded up.  I kinda like this picture I took accidently, but it looks like I'm going ballastic after takeoff...settle down Maverick!

What the heck are all these dark holes?  Sink holes?

Had to fly past the city, and then back to the airport....looking really good on this landing.

Landing Score:69.20  (Come on Smitty, give me a fighting chance!)

A splendid landing!

Flight Score:94.36

Flight included the following problems:

DBBB to DNMM (November 2nd, 2008)  Cotonou, Benin to Lagos, Nigeria

Picking another country that just a hop-skip-and a jump.  Off to Lagos in the Mooney.  Once again, another airport with a screwed up runway.  Enjoy the pic's anyway.

Can't really tell, but a damn jet airplane cut right in front of me to land....do they know who I am?

Once again, lined up good, but the damn runway is off in FSX.

Landing Score:0.00

Flight Score:95.87

Flight included the following problems:

  • Excessive speed at low altitude - several complaints have been filed.
