Leg 3 complete with a score of 114.98. Not a great a score, but it was a 5am flight in rain and wind. I'm just happy I managed to land it. And it was my first IFR flight. IFR / VFR doesn't seem to affect the score at all.

That's a pretty short runway to land on at KDCA, although I did forget to arm my spoilers. It would have been nice if Mr Smith advised me of that BEFORE I landed.

I wonder if the weather will clear up before my next flight to Chicago...

Dan piloting Boeing 737-800 Paint2 ended Monday, 18 August 2008 at 22:03

Aircraft: BOEING ID: N737X Airline: World Travel Flight:
Flight plan: KATL TO KDCA NAV1: IDCA
Failure(s): None at landing
Failure Event(s) (Zulu Time): None

Landing Score:0.00

Landing was successful in the following areas:
* Good glideslope on ILS approach.
* Good alignment with runway on ILS approach.
* Gentle touchdown.
* Wings were level.
* Glideslope held until flare.
* Good pitch control after touchdown.
* Good pitch at landing.
* With flaps - good job.
* Throttle(s) idle.

Landing included the following problems:
* Too fast - you had to force the plane to stay down.
* Not near the centre line - you can do better.
* Without spoilers armed - arm them before landing.
* Touch down not aligned with the runway - let's point down the runway.
* Ballooning during landing - needs practice.
* Poor steering after landing - stay on the centre line.
Definite room for improvement...

Flight Score:114.98

Flight commended in the following areas:
* Smooth turns.
* Gear deployment at safe speed.
* Smooth pitch control.
* Flown within aircraft's maximum speed limit.
* Good take off steering.
* Appropriate position of flaps during taxi.
* Smooth braking during taxi.
* Wings level near ground.
* Well coordinated turns.
* No stalls.
* No flying dangerously close to stall speed.
* Pitch not too high.
* Pitch not too low.
* Flaps down on time.
* Approach speed not too fast.
* Good clearance of obstacles.

Flight included the following problems:
* Steep banking - save your aerobatic flying for some other time.
* Exceeding flap speeds - your flaps may be damaged: have them checked.
* Sickening G forces - your passengers feel rather unwell.
* Dangerous taxiing turns - these cause discomfort and stress.
* Late rotation - when Vr is reached - take off.
* Poor attention to taxi speed - dangerous to yourself and others.
* Throttle and brakes during taxi - bad for many systems.
* Loss of altitude during takeoff - climb smoothly.
* Rapid descent - dangerous and uncomfortable.
* Excessive speed at low altitude - several complaints have been filed.
Definite room for improvement...

Dan:

Good to see you're working your way through the WWT!

ILS and NonILS approaches are scored differently, but flying IFR or VFR are scored the same.

>> That's a pretty short runway to land on at KDCA, although I did forget to arm my spoilers. It would have been nice if Mr Smith advised me of that BEFORE I landed.

There are many things in FSFS that are not announced before the pilot has already made a mistake. This is something we are expanding on here at the the Sinister Lab. Pilots are going to get a whole lot of verbal tips on what they should be doing...

Leg 4 - Washington to Chicago. I thought I'd try out the autopilot since I've never used it before. Very easy to fly with ap - I can see why the score is reduced by 33% to give me my worst flight score yet - 80.65.

Chicago is my kind of town.

OK! i hereby state myself a complete peanut! I mean... I consider myself pretty much into computerstuff, software and hardware. I have bought parts, and assembled computers for many years. I have fought with companies over bad hardware, testing, taking screens, measured, and all to prove my points, and have stuff returned due to faults.

This last month have been hell to me. Ever since I entered in the WWT with Joe, and now with Dan (hope your still with us Dan) my computer have been behaving bad, and then worse, and worse up until the point of tossing-it-out-the-window. I have pulled external devices out, I have deinstalled software that might have been responsible, I have updated, and downdated drivers to try to fix this, but nothing helped. I have experienced FS9 (that´s the FS2004) giving me single digit frames. frames of 4-5. It became impossible to do anything. Even old drivingsims I have been able to run flawless with high settings now stuttered like crazy on low settings.

And tonight it clicked. I was restarting the computer as it took 20 seconds to go from one browserscreen to another. Instead of restarting, my computer turned off. So I took off the side and looked inside. the CPU cooler seemed dusty, so I went for my Vacuumcleaner and began to clean it. The dust didn´t come off enough, so I unscrewed the fan, and cleaned it completly. Then I blew, with all my lungcapacity into every fan in the cabinet, and about 2½ kilograms of dust came off, I think.

I just felt so stup.. HEAT! All the ventholes were closed by dust, so I cannot imagine how hot it must have been inside the case.

I fought a computercompany for weeks to take back a new CPU couple of years back, because I experienced that it became way to hot, and caused bad performance. Why the *beep* didn´t any alarmbells ring this time? I should have seen it coming. I even experienced that the games started out fine, and then after a minute of pressing the system, frames went down to hell. A clear case of heat, and I never even thought of it. I pleed insanity, that is all I can think off.

After I cleaned the computer, I assembled it, and started it up. I started FSX (might as well try the hard one first) and went up in a maule from Miami. Instead of the s s s l i i d e e e s h o o o o w. I got about 30-35 frames. It was incredible. My settings are pretty low, due to the problems, and that´s why I got these insane high frames. I will ajust it to about 20 frames, and gain a little graphics settings back, but it´s amazing.

Then Columbo was on the tv, and I just happen to love Columbo, so I sat down and watched him solve yet another murdercase. Now it´s late and I have to wait to fly until tommorow, monday, but then I´m back in the game. Back in the WWT. I´m coming for you Joe and Dan.

Ole Andreasen, Denmark

Dear Peanut ,

I'm glad to see you are back up and going, and sounds like you are in a mucho better mood now...

Does this mean you might not get another computer?

The air in Wichita is always blowing and it's amazing how much dust accumulates in our house here...but I would not of thought that would "shut" your computer down that bad, but I'll put that to memory bank.  In fact, I might just make it a routine every so often to open it up and "blow" it out.

Well, I'm glad to have competition soon again.  Ready for the challenge.

I'm now in Stockholm, Sweden although I need to update my travels tomorrow.

Dear Peanut ,

I'm glad to see you are back up and going, and sounds like you are in a mucho better mood now...

Thank you Joe! Yes it has a tremendous impact on my attitude, when things don´t work. I am smiling ear-to-ear now.

Does this mean you might not get another computer?

Hush now!!! Don´t even whisper things like that, the wife might hear it. No way does it mean giving up the new baby. I might buy it in January, as original intentions was. It was brought forward because of the problems, but Nick N at Simviation, said that around new-years systems would be here that can max FSX out and still perform, and that was my originally aim, so It may, (and I said MAY) be January instead of October, but as long as I get the frames stated above, I am one happy dude.

The air in Wichita is always blowing and it's amazing how much dust accumulates in our house here...but I would not of thought that would "shut" your computer down that bad, but I'll put that to memory bank.  In fact, I might just make it a routine every so often to open it up and "blow" it out.

You do that! Holy cow it gathers dust, and I knew that. I knew that!

Well, I'm glad to have competition soon again.  Ready for the challenge.

Ready for the challenge! Man - with the scores you put up there, I will need a friggin miracle to be able to even breath down your back. Coulden´t you crash intentionally once in awile?

I'm now in Stockholm, Sweden although I need to update my travels tomorrow.

See you in London on October 1.
