I purchased this software yesterday and it seems to be working fine. However, I am facing one problem. In the flightplan page I am unable to set the aircraft starting approach speed (knots). The particular menu always remains inactive. Also I notice that at the start, the engine is always at idle (default) which makes the plane nosedive and difficult to control at the beginning. (i tried with Boeing 777 and 737)
Pls help!!!

Hi Samik -
Thank you for your interest in our products. 
We are unable to set the speed in FS2004 due to a technical difference between FSX and FS2004.
This is stated in the free manual which comes with the free download.
But - the good news is that there is a way to control it - if you first put your airplane in FS2004 in a situation where it is flying at the speed you want, and then use FSIA to set up the approach, it will start out flying at the speed you set previously.

Thanks..Squadron Leader for your quick response. I'm sure the alternative procedure that you have suggested will solve my problem, albeit with some extra minutes of take off and flying

Hi -
(Note - to all forum folks - we are discussing FS2004 in this forum post - NOT FSX!) 
Remember that you can set the speed very quickly just by launching FS2004 and using the MAP in FS2004, which allows you to put your plane anywhere (it does not matter where) and set the speed. 
Once this is done - save the flight - so it is a flight with the plane you want flying at the speed you want.
You now have a saved flight that you can load whenever you need it to set the speed.
These simple steps mean you will be ready to set up approaches with FSIA very quickly.

| Having recently bought Instant Approach I am very pleased with it. If only the speed could be set on the flight plan page in FS 2004 it would be absolutely perfect. Is there no way it can be added at a later date? Isn't the software similar to setting the speed in the FS map mode? I wait in hope. Incidentally, I couldn't get it to work at first until I updated FSUIPC to the latest version 3.999. marco

Glad you are enjoying the program!
We would certainly like to be able to set the speed in FS2004, just as we in fact can in FSX, but this is a technical problem at present.
We will add this feature if it becomes possible and certainly announce it here!
