I've just bought & installed FSFS 2009 for use with FSX.

When I run it I get the following messages -

1) Tip of the day.

2) Message - FSFlyingschool could not write a copy to the file FSUIPC.DLL into
C\program files\microsoft games\FS2002 modules
This operation is necessary if you are using FS2004 or 2002 - etc, etc,

Press OK

3) Message - Thank you for trying FSFlyingSchool
You have not registered the full version you have bought or
have run the demo version - etc, etc

I have successfully installed FSUIPC v4

Any idea's ?

Thanks
Ian.

It looks like you've also got FS2002 installed on your PC, and FSFlyingSchool is trying to install FSUIPC v3 into FS2002's module folder.

Try this:
* In notepad, open settings.ini - you'll find it in the FSFlyingSchool folder
* In the FS Folders section, clear the value for FS2002, so it should look like:
[FS Folders]
FS2002=

* Save the file
* Try opening FSFlyingSchool

Let us know if it works?

Hi John,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

When I first installed FSFS I did have FS2002 on, but I uninstalled it & FSFS, then reinstalled FSFS.

I can't find the settings.ini file - This is whats in the FSFS folder :-

C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool
Aircraft      File Folder
Locations     File Folder
NonILS        File Folder
PioletRoster  File Folder

No problem, can you create a settings.ini file with notepad?

Fill it with:

[FS Folders]
FS2002=
FS2004=
FSX=C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Microsoft Flight Simulator X\
FlightPlan=

[Pilot]
PilotFile=C:\Program Files\FSFlyingSchool\PilotRoster\LightSpeed.plt

[Misc]
TransitionAltitude=18000
EndFlight=0

Please change any paths if they're different on your system, save the file, and try loading FSFSlyingSchool.

Hi John,

I put the settings.ini file in, but still no luck.

I installed FSFS on to an old pc (with no FSX software on) and guess what, it worked.

I compared all the FSFS files on both pc's to check if they were the same, they are.

Any more idea's ?

Thanks

Ian.

Hi:

This problem can also occur if your registry still thinks FS2002 is installed. From what you have described, this is highly likely.

You can workaround this by putting the FSUIPC.DLL file into folder you described as:

"C\program files\microsoft games\FS2002 modules"

Just copy the FSUIPC.DLL file from the FSFlyingSchool folder and put it into the folder you saw in the message.

If the folder does not already exist, you must create it first.

Please let us know how you get on.

Hi,

I did try what you suggested, before I read your reply.

It works fine now. Problem solved.

Many Thanks,
