Windows allows the user to run more than one program at the same time.

There are many methods which can be used in order to leave Flight Simulator running and then launch another program - one of the simplest is to press   ALT   TAB   to return to the Windows Desktop and then select FSFlyingSchool from the Windows Start Menu.

Once it is running and you have chosen your options in it, press the big Connect button and then press   ALT   TAB   to return to the Windows Desktop and then select Flight Simulator from the Windows Task Bar.

When you return to Flight Simulator it may be paused - in which case you should press the pause key (usually  P  ) to take it out of "paused" mode.
