Title says most of what I have to offer.  I just purchase FSFS today and it runs perfectly on FS2004 but won't work at all on FSX.

I've read through a lot of the posts on here and it seems like nobody has my specific issue.

I should probably mention that I don't even get an add on menu in FSX.

Any information that you all need to help identify my issue just ask and I will get it here asap.

Hi there.

I'll get right to the facts and try to sort this out quickly for you.

FSFlyingSchool is linked to FS by a program called FSUIPC.

FSUIPC 3 is needed for FS2004 and this is installed automatically when you install FSFlyingSchool.

FSUIPC 4 is needed for FSX and this cannot be installed automatically by our installation program. So you need to install it yourself (takes about 1 minute). If you purchased a CD of FSFS, the FSUIPC installation program may be on it (this depends on where you got the CD). In any case you can download it for free from
http://www.schiratti.com/files/dowson/FSUIPC4.zip?timestamp=280809

When it asks for a registation code just press cancel. You will not be using one. You are using the free (unregistered) version.

Once that is installed, run FSX and get into a plane - you should see a menu called add-ons on the menu bar which is visible across the top of the screen when you are sitting in an aircraft. Within that menu should be an item called   FSUIPC    you do not need to click on it - you just need to be sure that it is there.

Finally, run FSFS (only after you get into a plane first).

Select your options and then press connect.

Return to FSX, un-pause if it is paused - and go flying.

Let us know how you get on.

I have the FSUIC4 installed and the first time that I ran FSX after installing FSUIC4 it asked me a security question to which I gave the go ahead for FSUIC to operate.  When I get into a plane on a missison and look up to where my menu is there isn't anything that says "Add-On" (or Module, which is what showed up in FS2004)

I've read a lot of posts before posting my issue and something that I am curious about is this:

Could my issue be caused by a missing SimConnect.dll file?

Thank you for your quick response and for the help.

Run FSX and then run FSFS.

What does the FSFlyingSchool settings page say about:

FSUIPC version?

FSUIPC status?

>> Could my issue be caused by a missing SimConnect.dll file?

Yes - but let's go through the easy checks first.

Finally - what version of Windows are you running?

Back to basics - what is the first indication you are getting that FSFS is not working with FSX?

In FSX there is no add on menu.  Even when I use Ctrl + Shift + F12 no menu appears.

I start FSX and get a plane on the ground ready to fly.  I minimize the FSX window and load the FSFlyingSchool and hit the connect button. I switch back to FSX, unpause it, and then there is nothing.  There is no instructor talking to me. There is no new menu.

I should also mention that I run both of the programs with full admin rights each time, so there shouldn't be any problems caused by a lack of admin rights.

Any info I can give you to help just ask and I'll fill you in.

Another thought.

Are you using a non-Microsoft firewall or antivirus?

If so you should make sure that FSX and/or FS2004 and FSFS are trusted applications.

Both programs are trusted with full clearance through windows firewall and through McAfee.

Just to test the theory that it could be a security program preventing communication between the two programs I have turned off 100% of my computers protection and tried to run FSX and FSFS together. No dice lol.

It didn't change anything within the two programs and once again FSX and FSFS wouldn't work together.

Any other suggestions?
