Hey All,

I am using the Aerosoft Airbus 319 with FSFS and I keep getting the message "Too Fast for that Flaps setting, retract them" though the entire flight... I have no flaps apply on the aircraft after take off... I programmed in the Manufactures values for the flaps into the "Aircraft" tab of FSFS and I am wondering if I have made an error...

Is flaps setting 1 on the FSFS Aircraft page flaps retracted (zero) or the actual first setting of the flaps in the aircraft?

I am using P3D V3, FSFS 2016 for P3D, windows 8 and exceed all specs for the programs... No other add ons being used...

Any help is appreciated..

Ed

Hi Ed:

Glad to help!

The first setting at the aircraft screen in FSFS is the first flap setting as in "one notch of flaps"; not zero flaps. So, for example, on the FSX B737-800 it is ONE degree of flaps.

Please copy and paste the contents of the .FSU file you have created for the aircraft into a reply to this post.

You will find the file inside the AIRCRAFT folder within your FSFlyingSchool folder on your PC.

Thanks Jeff..

Just realized I programmed in the Slats values instead of the flaps values... Opps... Gonna try the flaps values and re-try before I post the .fsu files... Guess I should pay attention to which column I copy from in the FCOM...

Will update after next flight..

Hi Ed:

Thanks for the file!

As I mentioned, the first setting at the aircraft screen in FSFS is the first flap setting as in "one notch of flaps"; not zero flaps. So, for example, on the FSX B737-800 it is ONE degree of flaps.

So... it must contain the first setting - if that is 10 degrees for example, then that is the first setting and the first speed is the speed below which that setting of flaps CAN be used.

Then... the same is repeated for all the other flap settings and speeds.

Finally - you should always have the same number of settings (in degrees of flaps) as speeds (in KIAS).

Hi Jeff,

Sorry for the late response - I've made files for the Aerosoft A319 and A320 so far - everything seems good - except that I still get errant flaps messages - I've noticed that the "Monitor Learjet 45" box seems to be checked in both files and I can not access it to uncheck it. Any thoughts?

Hi Ed:

>> except that I still get errant flaps messages -

Please send us the files you have created so we can examine them - just as you did before.

>> I've noticed that the "Monitor Learjet 45" box seems to be checked in both files and I can not access it to uncheck it. Any thoughts?

There should be no such data in any such file - so if it is in the files you created - you need to remove it. But regardless, send the files so that we can look at them.

Hi Jeff

Attached you will find the files for my most recent Aerosoft A319 file. I don't see the Learjet in there, but it is still checked in FSFS..

Hi Ed:

Without checking against the actual A319 - which I leave to you - the file looks fine:

[flaps.0]
flaps-position.1=10
flaps-position.2=15
flaps-position.3=20
flaps-position.4=40
flaps-position.5=0
flaps-position.6=0
flaps-position.7=0
flaps-position.8=0
flaps-position.9=0

[reference speeds]
IASTooFastForFlaps0=230
IASTooFastForFlaps1=200
IASTooFastForFlaps2=185
IASTooFastForFlaps3=177
IASTooFastForFlaps4=0
IASTooFastForFlaps5=0
IASTooFastForFlaps6=0
IASTooFastForFlaps7=0
IASTooFastForFlaps8=0
IASStallCruise=142
IASStallLanding=113
MaxGearExtension=250

[misc settings]
RetractableGear=1
Spoilers=1
FloatPlane=0
FlapsDownDuringTaxi=1

>> except that I still get errant flaps messages -

Please give me some specific examples the next time this occurs and I will see if I can resolve what the issue is.

>> Attached you will find the files for my most recent Aerosoft A319 file. I don't see the Learjet in there, but it is still checked in FSFS..

I think there is a misunderstanding here - you reported that

'the "Monitor Learjet 45" box seems to be checked in both files'

but I don't think you meant it was data inside the files. I imagine you meant that it is checked on the screen in FSFS when you are using the files.

Anyway - this is nothing to worry about. If a box is 'on' but disabled (shown in a faded gray) this merely shows that:

1 - It has not been turned off by the pilot

2 - It does not presently affect the flight as the pilot is not flying that plane

Thanks Jeff - I wasn't sure it was affecting the file or not if it's checked off but greyed out... I will take some detailed notes next time I get the flaps message.
