I have downloaded it to the existing 9.0.0 folder but can't get anything to install from there.

I'm not sure I fully understand the issue you are describing in not being able to "get anything to install".
NOTE! To all readers who do not own a registered version of FSFlyingSchool PRO 2016 for FSX/FS2004... If you would like to try the new version 9.1.0 then please read the alternative instructions below...
Here is the procedure for updating FSFlyingSchool PRO 2016 for FSX/FS2004 from version 9.0.0 to version 9.1.0...
Download the new installer from here...

Launch the installer you downloaded and tell it (during installation) to install FSFlyingSchool into the same folder as your existing, registered version of FSFlyingSchool PRO 2016 for FSX/FS2004.
That's it! The next time you run FSFlyingSchool PRO 2016 for FSX/FS2004 you will see that it is version 9.1.0.
ALTERNATIVE INSTRUCTIONS for pilots who do not own a registered version of FSFlyingSchool PRO 2016 for FSX/FS2004...
If you wish to try out the free demo of FSFlyingSchool PRO 2016 for FSX/FS2004...
Download the new installer from here...

If you have an earlier version of FSFlyingSchool for FSX installed on the PC, launch the installer you downloaded and tell it (during installation) to install FSFlyingSchool INTO A NEW FOLDER. Installing it into a new folder means that it will not interfere in any way with any existing installation of FSFlyingSchool.
If you have no version of FSFlyingSchool for FSX installed on the PC, launch the installer you downloaded and let it install FSFlyingSchool into the default folder (the folder it suggests automatically).
