| Howdy-doodly, I'd like to update my version of MakeRwys.exe in the root of my FSX folder with the latest version - Nov 2009. But before I do, would there be any negative impact for FSFS2010? Signed, --Mr. Cautious

| Dear Mr C: A very good idea to ask this question... FSFS2010 and FSFS2009 are sure to work with Makerunways version 3.98 Results of testing with later versions are not complete. You could try it out and let us know what you find - we always appreciate more test data. (Make a backup of Makerunways version 3.98 first). At the worst - the data will not be readable by the FSFSRWYS.EXE program which needs to read the file created by Makerunways. If this is the case, just replace the newer version of Makerunways with Makerunways version 3.98 and generate the data again, or indeed just back up the files: Runways.txt FSFSRWYS.TXT first and use them again if needed. Please let us know how you get on.

This sounds like a task for more testers than one, so I will try it out too.

| Thanks Ole - the more the merrier! We have tested it ourselves of course - but are not yet ready to announce that users should go ahead and use the latest version. As a result, our products are not, yet, shipped with the latest version and you do not need it.

| S/L [nod], Ole [nod], Thanks for the info. I've some other [nameless] add-ons that prefer to use a newer version of MakeRwys in order to have better/cleaner/etc. data. I'll proceed as advised and let you know of any calamities experienced. It may be a day or so.... Best,

Hi Mr. J. P., Long time no hear! How are you? I would like to know how I could find out which Makerunways version I currently have? I have the FSX with the Expansion Pack, and on Friday I am upgrading to the new FSFlyingSchool 2010. Could you please direct me on how to find the location of the current version I am running for the Makerunways? Thank you in advanced. Sincerely, Garrick Pattenden

| Hi The program should be in your FSFS folder. The file properties can be examined in Windows Explorer - this will give you the version number. FSFS2010 will install version 3.98

SquadronLeader (2/24/2010)
So be it. The World awaits your findings... The first attempt was moot. I updated the version in my FSX root and when I ran "Generate Runway data for FSX" (tooltips still reference FSFS2009, btw) it copied 3.98 over the newer version. I corrected that, re-ran and everything seems fine. [insertObvious "SmittyNowSaysI'm2000000FeetShortOfTheRunway" joke here] Should something odd arise as a result, I'll just restore the FSFS 3.98 version then modify the FSFS bat file where it will backup the FSX root version, copy over it, do its business, then restore. Toodle pip....
