Hi.
I bought FSFlyingSchool for x-plane a couple of days agoand wasn't able to get it running yet after installing it on my PC (Windows 10)
I start X-plane, choose an airport (I tried a few big airports), and so far the stock C172SP, load my flight and and then go back and start FSFlyingSchool.
As soon as it loads I get "Error: 13 - Type mismatch (see attached pic).
When I start FSFlyingSchool first and then X-Plane then X-plane crashes right away upon loading.
So far no fun.
I need help to get it running correctly.

Glad to help!
The problem is that there is an airport (just one) with an invalid name in your X-Plane installation.
It involves the "[X]" indication in their name. There are many such airports.
There is an airport called, for example:
"[X] Coyner Airstrip"
and this is no problem at all.
The problem was caused by an airport called:
"|X] Marigny le Grand"
The problem is that the X is not surrounded by a left and right square bracket.
It is not like this [X]
but is like this |X]
and as we can see the character is not the left square bracket.
NOTE: Marigny le Grand is the only airport which has this problem.
There is no problem whatsoever with X airports - the problem is with the "|" character in the name of this airport.
We have reported this to the X-Plane airport site so that this can be changed in the X-Plane airports data.
To solve this on your PC you can delete the TWO LINES for this airport in the FSFSRWXP.txt file in the X-Plane folder.
Just open the file with notepad and delete the two lines for this airport...
Marigny le Grand
NOTE: Marigny le Grand is the only airport which has this problem.

Jeff.
I deleted those two lines you mentioned in your very quick reply (thank you for that) to my problem.
I haven't done an entire flight yet but when I connect FSFlyingSchool with X-plane Mr. Smith starts talking.
And as of now I don't get any error messages.
I hope it stays that way so that I can enjoy this addon.

Hi, in regard to the above error 13; I've just downloaded the files as per your instructions and indeed the error went away. However, when I connect, FSFS just disappears. I've tried disabling the virus checker (Bitdefender) and reinstalling. It was working (I've got 2020, but also tried 2018 - it has worked for the past couple of years) a couple of weeks ago when I last used the software, but no such luck now. Any tips?

Regarding my previous 'Error 13' topic, it's working again now. I don't know what I did, but it's ok! FSFS had been crashing constantly but not anymore. Sorry to bother!
